Thirteen-year-old Sárinka loves school, enjoys painting, and, when her health allows, sits down at the piano. She also has a big dream—one day she’d like to become a doctor and help people with the same diagnosis she has.At first glance, she’s a smiling young girl with plenty of dreams and hopes, just like her peers.
But her daily life is much more challenging. Sárinka lives with osteogenesis imperfecta, a condition that causes her bones to be more fragile. She has suffered more than 27 fractures in her lifetime and must cope with pain, regular exercise, and a number of limitations every day.
Yet she refuses to give up. She is learning to live with an illness that never takes a day off, and she often finds strength in places where many of us would have long since given up looking.🦋
